By Cathy Spencer

As part of their restructuring, GM plans to close nearly 2,000 dealerships. If you own a GM vehicle, what does it mean if your dealer closes? USAToday has taken a closer look and published this Q&A piece which reassures owners that vehicle warranties, including extended warranties, will be honored. It also gives advice about getting a good deal on a new vehicle.

The Salt Lake Tribune talked to a local dealer to get information about warranty work and dealer availability. This Q&A piece from the Los Angeles Times does assure owners that warranties will be honored and parts available but doesn't ignore some of the downsides. For example, dealer-specific perks such as free oil changes for a year may be lost if your dealership closes.
