Map the Path of Storms So Viewers & Users Don't Have to Guess

By Tom Dolan

Many stations produce weather segments full of "radar" stories about severe weather. But many could payoff the presentation by mapping the path of the tornado, microburst or storm through all the counties affected. Not just for clearer explanation but primarily because viewers and users need the info for family impact. The immediate need is whether "my" family and friends are or were in the way.
In this recent example, KY3 in Springfield, Missouri used this type mapping to quickly tell their viewers and users online both the exact path of the tornadoes as well as how the storm built, diminished and built again.
