News Media Ethics: To Cover or Not To Cover

It's hard to go anywhere and not hear about Sen. Larry Craig's latest scandal. News channels and radio shows replay his press conference comments over and over again. But when something "scandalous" occurs with a public figure, when and/or what is the proper justification for covering the event? And how far into the story should reporters go?A recent article from Poynter Online addresses when it's appropriate and when it's not to "delve into the sex life of a politician or other public figure."
