On-going Bridge Investigation Raises Classic: How To Follow Up With a Story

An article in the August 9 New York Times leads the debate about what caused the Minneapolis bridge to collapse. Monica Davey and Matthew Wald describe what officials say, could be a design flaw. Graphics, pictures and related links offer the reader more into the story.

The possibility that gusset-plates, used in numerous bridges throughout the country, could have been the problem raises important questions. Follow-up stories are always a good way for story ownership and connecting with viewers.
