News War: Frontline Takes an In-Depth Look at the Future of News

By Laura Brooks

Everybody's talking about it; FRONTLINE did a story on it.
Drawing on unusual access to some of the most significant figures in the media, PBS FRONTLINE correspondent Lowell Bergman presents a unique examination of the challenges facing the mainstream news media and the media's reaction.
In part three, "What's Happening to the News," Bergman examines the growing pressure to provide news across multiple platforms and turn a profit in the process, while in an environment where the audience for traditional news is rapidly shrinking.
scheduled to air February 27, 2007
With the Middle East an increasingly dominant factor in world politics and media reporting, the series wraps up with "Stories from a Small Planet," an investigation of the role of the new Arab media.

["Secrets, Sources & Spin" made up the first two parts of the series.
Part one aired on February 13, 2007, and examined the role of media in U.S. society, including the use of anonymous sources and the relationship between the Bush Administration and the press.
In part two, which aired on February 20, 2007, Bergman interviewed journalists who have broken major news stories and are now in danger of going to jail for refusing to reveal their sources.]
