Thomas P. Dolan, President, Dolan Media Management

As President of Dolan Media Management, Tom Dolan has developed a unique management recruitment firm for TV news and promotion. Based in suburban Washington, DC, the company builds management teams for TV stations, capitalizing on Tom’s 25 years of news experience and eight-plus years as a news consultant and executive recruiter.

Previously, Tom had been Vice-President of News & Talent Development for the Texas based Broadcast Image Group from 1996 to 1999. Consultant for a select group of TV stations, he also spearheaded the company's management recruitment division for TV news and promotion. He helped develop an advanced database for managers and producers, placing some 100 candidates in client stations during the three years.

Prior to his consulting career, Tom served as Vice-President of News at KSAZ-TV in Phoenix. In addition, Tom spent some twenty years with ABC owned stations in Philadelphia, San Francisco, New York, and Chicago. Tom served as Managing Editor, Assistant News Director and News Director at WLS-TV in Chicago for more than nine years before moving to Phoenix.

During his three years at KSAZ-TV, Tom led the station through one of the most challenging news expansion and affiliation switches following the station's transition to the FOX network.

ABC hired Tom as a key member of a group that completely rebuilt the news operation at WLS-TV in Chicago from last to first place during the 1980's. In those nine plus years, he was involved in the expansion of news programming from three programs per day to six and designed the format for one of the first hour long AM newscasts.

Tom continues to produce cutting-edge workshops at national conventions like RTNDA, IRE, PROMAX and UNITY. He has also done many workshops at client stations on industry trends, News formatting and the News/Marketing-Promotion relationship to ensure that new managers get an effective start.

Active in minority journalist organizations since the early 80's, Tom has promoted diversity in his newsrooms and continues to make it part of his recruiting and consulting practice.

Tom has won both Associated Press and Emmy awards for his news programs. Tom lives in Frederick, MD with his wife, Jeanne, and their two children.

Fiona Stang, Dolan Media Management

Fiona Stang joined Dolan Media Management in January, 2008 as Database Manager and Administrative Assistant. She will also be the first point of contact for the company's web site on ideas, trends and story generation. Fiona brings almost ten years experience from the staffing and recruiting fields at Wells Fargo and Chevy Chase Banking as well as MRI Recruiting in Maryland. She also has two years experience with Homecroft Development Corporation, also in Maryland, building and maintaining the homebuilder's customer database as well as developing the company web site.

Fiona is used to handling front end telephone interviews screening applicants for qualified candidates, has created databases of candidate information and follow-up telephone interviews in her prior positions, and has researched recruits and recruiting opportunities via the web.

Fiona also has a history of client contact and relationship building. She understands how to address client goals through recruiting right fit candidates. To meet the current Internet demand, she will be doing extensive web research and canvassing for savvy candidates and Internet sites to service Dolan Media Management client web openings. Fiona will use her past experience in hiring techniques, working with business partners to develop staffing criteria, and organizing job fairs.

Fiona will serve as the company's web producer and will supply background and backup for Idea Central content on the DMM site. She will also offer insights, reviewing newscasts and promo reels to understand the client's company culture and history.

Jeanne Dolan, Dolan Media Management

Jeanne brings an extensive broadcasting and business background to Dolan Media Management. She has 15+ years of history in television with roles in sales, business and human resources.

Jeanne spent most of her career at WLS-TV in Chicago, beginning in 1983 as the Assistant to the Business Manager. Within six months, she was promoted to Business Manager, a position she maintained throughout her ten-year tenure at the station. Jeanne attended DePaul University while in Chicago.

St. Louis is where Jeanne started her TV career with “Television Reps,” a company that represented 75 stations around the country. Her position as a Sales Assistant gave Jeanne valuable experience working with General Managers at the station-level, and the tools for securing commercial airtime contracts from Ad agencies.

Jeanne later moved to Little Rock, Arkansas and worked as the Assistant to Operations Manager at KATV. She was promoted to the same role with the station’s President and General Manager before moving to Chicago.

Using her knowledge of the TV news industry, Jeanne works with Dolan Media Management’s website applicants, builds the company database and is the company Business Manager.

Jeanne is the wife of Dolan Media Management President, Tom Dolan. She has enjoyed being back in the business after taking time off from work to raise the couple’s two children.
